part of the daily design inspiration series that started it all on abduzeedo. this is where you'll find the most interesting things/finds/work curated by one of us to simply inspire your day. furthermore, it's an opportunity to feature work from more designers, photographers, and artists in general that we haven't had the chance to write or feature about in the past.

for this daily we are selecting photography, graphic design, art direction and more. our goal is to diversify the types of work and in the future we can perhaps categorize them in different sections. for now we are going to stick to the simple format of images and links. i hope you enjoy and share with use via twitter or our tumblr.

until further notice, we'll display the images and the titles added to them. because of little issues we had in the past, the images are still linked to their authors, we just won't mentioned who shared them like we used to.

architecture: common ground by urbantainer
architecture: common ground by urbantainer
aoirostudio feb 17, 2017

we all have seen containers implemented as a house or pop-up shops but what about 5300 m2 building? it’s just insane just to think of it but at the same time looking at this architecture project by urbantainer. it seems quite possible and beautiful too! located in seoul, south korea, this building called common ground is connecting the street market and the market hall with stores and terraces. i wish someday to be able to visit this spot!

designed by urbantainer , just by the name you'll presume that is something related to containers but you're actually right! they started it all back in 2009 and they are now operating in two main centers of gravity, esb (entertainment space branding) and map (modular architecture platform). with a deep design sense in mind, we can't ignore their expertise for modular architecture based on iso container frame modules

i know we are past valentine’s day but it’s never too late to share some love, especially coming from adobe, they have made some really funny freebie for us to download via adobe stock template. besides, it’s always good to be able to dissect a template from adobe themselves. grab them and go on with your inspiration and creativity. happy friday guys!

published via adobe blogs , it's nice to get some love from adobe, more precisely about their humor. i wouldn't lie, i did laughed to the one that says: i love your ctrl+m. to start many your own for now or even next year? grab them by clicking on this link.

we took traditional valentine’s day colors, shades of red, purple, and pink, and mixed in modern lines and shapes to give a creative edge to classic lace-like cards. and because no valentine’s day card would be complete without a pun, we threw in a little creative cloud humor.

photography: aston martin lagonda with tomek olszowski
photography: aston martin lagonda with tomek olszowski
abduzeedo feb 17, 2017

aston martin lagonda with tomek olszowski is a photography and retouching project shared by recom farmhouse and tomek olszowski on their behance profiles. as they describe in the project: cult cars don't come much less conventional than the aston martin lagonda. only 645 were ever made, and they're like no other car before or since. "the wedge-shaped body is the height of a porsche 911 but over five metres long, with an outrageously space-age dashboard." the photography and art direction of this project is simply amazing. there's a classic noir mood, and despite the 70s appeal, it reminds me a lot of the 80s with the color palette used.

"this isn’t a car so much as a mobile pop-cultural mash-up, the intersection of a dozen different ideas, many of which are at odds with each other." (top gear)

project description

in this shoot, a touch of seventies noir accents the car's angular forms, and we introduced it to the kind of driver which its retro-futuristic style deserves.

in my career, i had many many opportunities to create within a group that were in the same room like a workshop type of thing. other situations where you are working with a team where they are scattered all over the world through different timezones is on the other hand making things harder though. it’s quite hard at times because we are not in the same room but things have changed with the mighty folks from invision. introducing freehand, their latest from craft to collaborate in real time fast and flexible at the same time.

romain trystram is an illustrator from morocco with an incredible portfolio. what really catches my eye is his illustration style with colorful, i dare say, 80s color palette sometimes. there is a mix of abstract and more conventional illustrations. the abstract is the the one that i particularly tend to prefer, however most of them seem to be inspired by architecture or urban scenes. i selected a few illustrations for this post to highlight that.

romain has done work for major clients, such as ibm, adobe, mercedes-benz, affinity, panasonic, virgin atlantic and many others. for more information make sure to check out his portfolio at https://romaintrystram.myportfolio.com/

digital art and advertising: internet.org by facebook
art direction and digital art: internet.org by facebook
abduzeedo feb 15, 2017

internet.org by facebook is a art direction and digital art project shared by our favorite studio, ars thanea. we posted about them and featured their work so many times, actually every time they post something new because their work is quite inspiring. this time we are sharing the project they shared on their behance profile for the internet.org for facebook. it's an advertising campaign, but we tend to focus on the technical aspects of the digital art and art direction for this post.

background

internet access is considered a basic human right together with freedom of speech, gender equality, water and shelter by the united nations. each person that comes online has the potential to create and share knowledge that improves the internet for all.

that’s why internet.org by facebook is exploring ways to get the unconnected half of the world online. to date, internet.org has brought more than 19 million people in 38 countries online through a range of services — like installing wireless hotspots, beaming internet from the sky and creating platforms that enable data-free access.

how could the internet be considered the world wide web if only half of the world’s population is connected? we created a series of print and digital ads with real cut-in-half objects to tell the story of an incomplete internet and its potential. so we all can realize how much music, art, stories and knowledge is missing online.

product design: whym - seamless instant interpretation app
product design: whym - seamless instant interpretation app
abduzeedo feb 14, 2017

whym - seamless instant interpretation app is a product design project shared by the netguru team on their behance profile. as the name suggest the idea is simple, you have an app that provided you access to a live interpreter 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. simple ideas tend to be the most difficult to execute well but, visually at least (i have not had time to download and play with it yet) it looks quite beautiful. this project covers some of the main user journeys like: onboarding, call and connect with an interpreter and purchase more minutes. it is a quite good example of product design presentation.

use case

imagine your worst travel nightmare. you’re in a car crash; you’re rushed to hospital; your travel companion has been arrested by the police. then imagine you can’t speak the local language. you can’t understand what’s being said; you can’t get people to understand you. what’s wrong? what’s everyone saying?

now imagine you have immediate access to a professional, live, human interpreter in your pocket. you’re still in a stressful situation, but there's an interpreter by your side to explain what's going on.

motion design for ui by michal sambora

there's a clear shift or i would say evolution of interface design that relies more in motion design to make it easier for people to understand how to use the application. in addition to that motion design can enhance the visual experience tremendously. michal sambora has great examples of subtle and not so subtle animations to illustrate that. there are some quite interesting experiments, especially the real weather project that uses 3d to create dramatic icons for a weather app. some of the projects seem to be experimental only, but even if they are not based on real implementations, they are still worth checking them out.

a photo challenge! yes! mainly, it's an open concept that is made purely for fun and also to improve your photography or mobile photography skills. the idea is simple! at the beginning of the week, we'll share a theme through a hashtag for your pictures. during that given week, you will use that hashtag whenever you seem is appropriate or not. on friday we'll select and publish our favourite photos on the blog and also on instagram account (@abduzeedos). we look forward to see what you will come up with.

this for this week, we are going for the hashtag: --> #abdz_strideby. what does it mean? stride by is a term used for saying like you'll take a long step of passing over an obstruction. the interesting part with this week's challenge is easy but the fact on how you will frame the shot? the architecture? the shadowplay?

motion design is intrinsically useful for product design, especially when designing for mobile devices. even experience designers might have a difficult time evaluation solutions on the computer without testing on the device. in addition to that, there's so much information that can be lost by using the old approach of static mocks. those are just a couple of reasons why motion design and prototype are mandatory steps during the product design process. after effects, principle, framer, javascript or straight native java or swift are some of the tool available. they all have their pros and cons but the important thing is that they all gives us that extra level of information to helps us on our decision making process to deliver the best user interface.

on this post i will share some motion design projects on user interface. they are from dribbble, one of the best sources for this type of work. make sure to click on the images to find out more about the designers behind them.

it's time for our honest appraisal of the macbook pro. after almost 5 years using my old macbook pro, a first generation retina display, the time had come for an upgrade. i've been chomping at the bit for apple to announce a new laptop because mine was having a lot of issues. be it the bevy of dead pixels, battery life of less than 1 hour to the most frustrating of all, ghosting effects on my screen. so finally, at the end of last year, apple announced the new macbook pros with the touch bar. time to hit the savings and purchase one.

before getting to the review, i have to say, apple products hold a good resale value. after almost 5 years, i was able to trade in my old laptop for 500 dollars at best buy. a great deal.

now back to the macbook pro review. i have been using the laptop for almost 4 weeks now. i have done pretty much the same things i did with the previous one. tasks using tools such as adobe photoshop, adobe illustrator, sketch, figma, sublime text and android studio. this review is based on my personal experience, some people might think differently, but again, everyone has his or her own way of seeing things, this is mine.

macbook pro review

industrial design

let’s start with the easy one, the industrial design. what can i say about this machine, it is simply stunning. the space grey color gives it a super sleek look, it’s like the lamborghini aventador of the laptops in my mind.

in terms of size, it’s not much different than the previous one. it’s definitely thinner and lighter, but putting them together the dimensions are quite similar. the difference is how solid/dense this machine feels. the old one now feels to have a bunch of wasted space internally compared with the new one. it’s like it’s a solid piece with no parts. try to shake him, you cannot hear a piece moving.

i also like the new design of the screen, it’s a detail, but the macbook pro logo looks nicer over a black surface.

keyboard and trackpad

macbook pro review - love and hate with the touch bar

there’s a lot of talk about the keyboard, quite a lot of hate too. what can i say? i love it. i love pretty much everything about it. the sound, even though it gets a bit loud; the keys and how short the travel is when you press them. they also feel a bit bigger. my theory is that apple is slowly transitioning to digital keyboards by making the laptop keys with shorter and shorter travel therein training us to type on flat surfaces. if that is true, it’s working for me and i appreciate it.

the trackpad got a redesign as well, they made it really big. but, does size really matter? to be honest with you, in this case, it doesn’t. it’s nice that it’s bigger, but it captures a bunch of involuntary touches, especially when i am typing, like now. i also like to set up the trackpad speed to the max, so i can move the cursor across the screen without much effort. that said, the trackpad feels great without the physical click. it’s like the new iphone in that it just emulates the click. i know, i know, it’s been on laptops for a long time, but remember i had a 2012 macbook pro.

touch bar

to summarize my feelings about the touch bar, gimmicky. apple calls it a touch of genius, i call it a touch of laziness or just stubbornness on not making the screen touchable.

macbook pro review - love and hate with the touch barhere’s the thing, i don’t want to sound bad but there’s nothing about it that i like. it made my life more difficult. for example, if i want to change the volume, now i need an extra click because i need to expand the volume slider. same goes for screen brightness. in addition to that, you have to expand the touch bar to access other functions like the apps drawer, the expose and keyboard backlight control. why?

some apps take advantage of that touch bar, but i am so used to those apps that i never noticed anything different. oh there are the emojis on messenger, too bad, i am an old and grumpy man that doesn’t use emojis. also there’s siri, that is right on top of the delete key and next to the touch id key. that means, i trigger that button by mistake a bit too often. that’s when i get reminded about siri, which i never used. again, this is my personal opinion. maybe i will change my mind about some of these things, but for now, i think the touch bar is dumb. the best thing about it is the touch id to turn on and login without password. that is pure genius, but that is not exactly part of the touch bar.

performance and battery life

performance-wise for me it’s great. it is better than my previous macbook pro but not by much. it definitely handles apps like android studio and sketch with multiple artworks faster, but it’s not mind-blowing faster. i also feel that in general the computers cannot get that much faster as the tech might have reached a plateau. i have to also say that i don’t use a lot of cpu or gpu intensive software that much. for my needs it’s an excellent machine.

the screen is also beautiful, the colors are much improved compared with the 2012 cousin. it’s more saturated and brighter. the contrast is another great improvement in my humble and not so knowledgeable opinion. resolution-wise, it's the same, still crisply beautiful.

now the battery life. oh the battery life. this one for me is tricky because my previous laptop would last for less than 1 hour so anything over that is much better. but it’s far from what apple claims 10 hours, which i think someone could sue them for false advertising. i never got close to that, maybe if i only use safari with a blank tab with 10% brightness for the screen i might get the result. in short, the battery life is not 10 hours, actually it’s pretty hard to track it for me because it’s extremely unreliable. sometimes it lasts more, others it feels that it goes down like a % every minute. i believe that’s the reason that they removed the time estimate from the battery indicator.

hopefully, it can be fixed via firmware or software, but, as i said in the beginning, i was used to a terrible battery life. so it’s not a deal breaker for me, especially now that i can charge it from anyone of the 4 usb-c ports available.

usb-c ports only

i appreciate apple’s boldness on adopting new technologies and getting rid of old ones. they are not predicting the future, but trying to define it by going there first.another new feature that generated a lot of controversy, the usb-c only ports. i see a lot of people complaining, but for me, like with the keyboard, i love it. i simply do. i love the idea of one type of port for everything, that’s the future and apple is betting on it. too bad that now you need an adapter for the iphone cable. thankfully i am a pixel owner so it works just great with my android pixel. how paradoxical, right!?

i also have only one adapter, that came with my pixel phone. it’s an usb-a to usb-c. it works great and serves all my needs. i can connect my sony rx1 camera, or my old external hard-drive just fine and best of all, i can use my external monitor with just one cable for everything. it cannot get any better than that, unless going all wireless.

conclusion

overall the macbook pro 15 with the touch bar is a great machine. it’s clearly an evolution from the previous one in terms of industrial design and aesthetics, not so much in performance, but still better and faster.

the new features like the keyboard, touch id, bigger trackpad and usb-c only are really good for me. i appreciate apple’s boldness on adopting new technologies and getting rid of old ones. they are not predicting the future, but trying to define it by going there first. it also resonates with my minimalist mind of reducing clutter by simplifying things, like having only one port for everything.

despite the touch bar being a hit or miss for me i highly recommend this machine if you have an old macbook pro like i did and need an upgrade urgently. if you can wait, i’d wait because apple is notorious for having bad first generation products, i suffered with my old macbook pro, but this time i will be more prepared by acquiring the apple care extended warranty. in a nutshell, if you want to have the sexiest laptop you can get, i would get this one in a heartbeat. perhaps the 13, if you don’t need too much screen real estate.

pros

  • beautiful industrial design;
  • thinner and lighter than the previous one;
  • spacegrey color is sleek;
  • keyboard;
  • usb-c only for everything;
  • touch id to unlock

cons

  • battery life;
  • macos is getting a bit outdated;
  • touch bar is useless for me. it also adds extra clicks for volume or other common tasks;
  • no touch screen

we would like to share this interior design of a stunning lodge called the get away lodge located just outside of village of åre in jämtland county, northern sweden. it’s a collaboration between renowned car brand volvo  and an online hotel curator tablet hotels . inside the lodge, you’ll be charmed with a wood burning fireplace, lounge, free wi-fi/parking, 24 hours concierge and on top of that; access to access to volvo’s newly launched all-weather v90 cross country wagon car!

according to the global consumer experience at volvo car group, six out of ten people want to spend more time outdoors, not at the office. it’s not hard to think otherwise, this lodge is the perfect location for anyone who wants to escape for a few days to discover the elusive work-life balance we have all heard of.

launched in conjunction with volvo cars’ all-weather premium estate, the v90 cross country, and part of a bigger campaign promoting work-life balance, the swedish automaker has teamed up with tablet hotels, the original online hotel curator, to offer a one-of–a-kind experience in the snowy serenity of the swedish mountains.

i am one of those believers that believe that design can change the world by its purpose and its reasons. we do what we do for what we believe is worth fighting. we are able to create things that can drag emotions, thinking and more. let’s take a closer at this editorial design by mother design for save the children. as i quote: “..creating an opportunity to engage with the people behind them”.

designed by mother design  is a team of designers, strategists and producers with offices in london and new york city. with a mindset of working side-by-side with their clients, seeing their work for save the children gives a warm positivity for a great cause.

helping the children of za′atari share their world. when save the children invited us to visit za’atari – the world’s second largest refugee camp and home to over 80,000 syrians – we discovered an incredible project. magnum photographer michael christopher brown had created a photography class in which he gave 12 children iphones and equipped them with the skills to tell their own stories. these kids have no direct connection to the outside world; no way to share their story and, vitally, to have others respond. my own account was about going beyond the photographs, creating an opportunity to engage with the people behind them. we took inspiration from social media to create an exhibition in which visitors could show their love for the photographs that they really connected with. these interactions were recorded and shared with the children of za’atari in what, for many, was their first interaction with the world outside since arriving at the camp.

illustration: grimms' fairy tales illustrated by ale giorgini
abduzeedo feb 22, 2017

grimms' fairy tales illustrated by ale giorgini is a set of illustrations of wallpapers based on classic fairy tales. whichever one is your favorite, it isn't hard to get glossy eyed and nostalgic over the forever legendary brothers grimm tales. with his brilliantly retro flair, italian illustrator ale giorgini evokes the same feeling and transforms the iconic tales of 'little red riding hood', 'snow white' and 'hansel and gretel' into stylish, contemporary illustration pieces for the home.

"a wall with a view"

this is the idea that ale says encapsulates the collection of illustrations. on designing the collection, he said, "i thought of the wall as a huge window, where i could watch the woods through which some of my favorite fairytales characters walk. you can play with red riding hood and a sweet wolf, or try to grab some candy from the hands of hansel and gretel."

giorgini has teamed up with murals wallpaper to create an uber cool collection of wall murals that celebrate the sentimentality and iconicism of grimms' fairy tales. he uses precise line work, bold color and a cunning use of negative space to produce illustrations that are as stunning as they are interesting, resulting in an incredibly charming jetson's-esque aesthetic.

"you can hang your artwork on the trees, or declare your love by writing it on the trunks. my murals are made for children that dream, or adults who still do." - giorgini

we’ve seen tools like the wacom and even the touch bar from the macbook pro to somehow increase our productivity and workflow. they both have their pros and cons but i would an issue i had with the wacom for example was its size especially when you think of working on-the-go or in a coffee shop. how about we rethink it a little. let’s take a look at this editing tablet product design concept named: kontrol by jonny tran. with a minimal approach, i can’t help to enjoy the idea of having your tablet separated in different components. it’s quite neat!

published via behance, this is the work from freelance designer named jonny tran based in jönköping, sweden. there isn’t much more information about jonny but we know that he’s studying in industrial design and we shall look forward to see more of him in the near future.

kontrol is a sketch tablet that is designed for video and photo editors in mind.

as a designer, i am a frequent user of behance. it’s a beautiful platform that featured some of the best artists, designers and illustrators out there. one thing that annoys me though is the design hasn’t changed much in the last few years. for example, those gradient buttons are hitting me hard! let’s take a look at the work of nora park who decided to take the platform for an overhaul concept. overall, i really enjoyed her interaction design and direction for behance, too not keen on the interactions but in the “ensemble”; it’s a lovely concept!

this concept is the work of nora park who is a freelance art director based in los angeles, california. she has a background in ui/ux, graphic design, illustration, fine art and more. you should definitely check out her site.

like many designers, i am a frequent user of the behance. this is my attempt at translating the website into a desktop application, one that takes advantage of the platform by providing a richer, more seamless and customizeable experience.

wine-searcher application is an interaction design and ui/ux project shared by olena mostepan and meat studies on their behance profiles. in a nutshell, the whole idea was create an mobile app that could help you search and understand a bit more about wine, with the ultimate goal of making you love wine. from the interaction design point of view, it's a fairly simple and straightforward model. you can search wine by type of food, type of wine or even scan wines to understand more about that particular type.

the visual design is also simple but lovely with "cute" icons across the many screens. from the images i felt that the fonts tend to be quite small and i wonder from the accessibility point of view, if the text color is not too light. enough said, check out the images below for a better look at this cool project.

game design: narita boy -the retro futuristic pixel game
abduzeedo feb 23, 2017

narita boy -the retro futuristic pixel game is a kickstarter project for a pixel art game created by studio koba. i found out about this game design project while visiting the behance profile of eduardo "edujante" fornieles, a freelance concept artist and founder of studio koba currently based in tokyo, japan. for me, as a fan and addicted to everything 80s, this game is a homage to that beautiful decade and had to be feature here on abduzeedo. also help eduardo get the game funded on kickstarter

about the game

you are narita boy, a legendary digital hero in an epic quest through simultaneous dimensions.

the digital kingdom is under attack and you are called as their last hope of survival. explore a vast world to find the techno sword, the only effective weapon against the threat.

the aesthetic of the game is inspired by retro pixel adventures (castlevania, another world, double dragon) with a modern touch (superbrothers, sword and sorcery) and an 80s plot homage (ready player one, he-man, the last starfighter),  accompanied by the retro synth touch of the old glory days

dubldom, a beautiful and modern modular house
beautiful and modern modular house
gismullr feb 24, 2017

modular houses, or prefabricated houses, are picking up momentum lately. we have been seen amazing modular houses designs. from small and minimal projects to bigger ambitious ones, there is certainly a modular house idea to fit your needs. to give you a taste of that we will show a beautiful and modern home in pirogovo lake, russia. the project was designed by bio-architects. the house was designed for a couple that had lived in one of the architect's modular homes. they liked the experience and decided to try an upgraded version of their first modular house. the result is a nice and cozy cabin in the woods.

the house counts with simple and affordable materials. metal profile, barn board and glass, and it blends harmoniously with the natural environment. it seems like the cabin is totally in sync with its beautiful surroundings. nice open floor, lots of glass and wood create an modern and charming place. take a look. and make sure to check out bio-architects website for further information about this and other inspiring projects. see you next week. :)

the house was designed and produced for a young couple who went to live in the suburbs of moscow on pirogovo lake. a year before, in 2015, they asked us for a compact 40m2 dubldom house, and after a successful experience of its winter installation, the customers got ready for a bigger one for the whole family, children and staff. none of the standard models was suitable for the site, so we made an individual project on the basis of dubldom of second edition. most of the individual decisions are based on a simple technology and inexpensive materials, so we managed to follow one of the basic principles of dubldom company - quality of architecture at an affordable pricing.

the front facade with the maximum number of glazing was dictated by location of the house on the site. all the technical and utility rooms are located along the rear facade, and the children's room, office, main entrance and the living room with fireplace look at the site with a wonderful view on the water. made with simple and affordable materials - metal profile, barn board and glass - it blends harmoniously with the natural environment.

the entire interior is made of solid pine, painted white. the end walls coloured dark visually increase the space. the interior design is completely made and implemented by the hostess anastasia sokolova. all modules were prefabricated at dubldom production in kazan and arrived at the site together with the interior trim, hidden utilities, furniture and electrical equipment inside. installation work took about 10 days with minimal disruption to the site and the environment.

motion design: ui and ux collection

motion design is intrinsically useful for product design, especially when designing for mobile devices. even experience designers might have a difficult time evaluation solutions on the computer without testing on the device. in addition to that, there's so much information that can be lost by using the old approach of static mocks. those are just a couple of reasons why motion design and prototype are mandatory steps during the product design process. after effects, principle, framer, javascript or straight native java or swift are some of the tool available. they all have their pros and cons but the important thing is that they all gives us that extra level of information to helps us on our decision making process to deliver the best user interface.

macbook pro review - love and hate with the touch bar

it's time for our honest appraisal of the macbook pro. after almost 5 years using my old macbook pro, a first generation retina display, the time had come for an upgrade. i've been chomping at the bit for apple to announce a new laptop because mine was having a lot of issues. be it the bevy of dead pixels, battery life of less than 1 hour to the most frustrating of all, ghosting effects on my screen. so finally, at the end of last year, apple announced the new macbook pros with the touch bar. time to hit the savings and purchase one.

illustration: grimms' fairy tales by ale giorgini

grimms' fairy tales illustrated by ale giorgini is a set of illustrations of wallpapers based on classic fairy tales. whichever one is your favorite, it isn't hard to get glossy eyed and nostalgic over the forever legendary brothers grimm tales. with his brilliantly retro flair, italian illustrator ale giorgini evokes the same feeling and transforms the iconic tales of 'little red riding hood', 'snow white' and 'hansel and gretel' into stylish, contemporary illustration pieces for the home.

interaction design: behance desktop app concept

as a designer, i am a frequent user of behance. it’s a beautiful platform that featured some of the best artists, designers and illustrators out there. one thing that annoys me though is the design hasn’t changed much in the last few years. for example, those gradient buttons are hitting me hard! let’s take a look at the work of nora park who decided to take the platform for an overhaul concept. overall, i really enjoyed her interaction design and direction for behance, too not keen on the interactions but in the “ensemble”; it’s a lovely concept!

this for this week, we had to go for the hashtag: --> #abdz_strideby. what does it mean? stride by is a term used for saying like you'll take a long step of passing over an obstruction. the interesting part with the challenge is easy but the fact on how you will frame the shot? the architecture? the shadowplay? let's check out the suite!

thanks to our sponsor, gadget flow. a product discovery platform that helps you save and buy awesome products with 12 new additions every day.

nokia 3310 mobile phone

the perfect office - samsung galaxy tab s3, asus designo monitor, office ideas and more!

sometimes the best features are the ones a product doesn't have. the nokia 3310 mobile phone lacks nearly everything we expect from our pocket computers, including apps, a high-quality camera, 4g (or 3g) internet connectivity, and a big bright screen. instead, this modern incarnation of nokia's iconic brick phone offers just enough to get you by — calls, sms messaging, a 2-megapixel camera, an mp3 player with microsd expansion, and snake in case you get bored. in return for the tradeoffs, you get month-long standby time, a headphone jack, an fm radio, and the piece of mind that you won't accidentally drop/break/misplace your delicate piece of future glass. (at uncrate)

d-link omna 180° hd security camera

the perfect office - samsung galaxy tab s3, asus designo monitor, office ideas and more!

secure your preemies with confidence when you use the d-link omna 180 cam hd security camera. complete with an 180-degree wide-angle lens, this device gives you the full picture every time. connecting to your home’s wi-fi network, the omna camera also functions with apple homekit for a seamless security system. additionally, it features full 1080p hd resolution along with two-way audio. using this, you can communicate with anyone on the other side of the camera. (at the gadget flow)

samsung galaxy tab s3

the perfect office - samsung galaxy tab s3, asus designo monitor, office ideas and more!

samsung also announced the next generation of galaxy tab. the s3 is also an iterative design, with what samsung believes is the premium android tablet available in the market. starting with the snapdragon 820 soc, featuring qualcomm’s custom kryo cores, the headline message for the s3 is support for hdr 10-bit content as well as a 6000 mah battery and support for fast charging technology. (at anandtech)

secretello desk

the perfect office - samsung galaxy tab s3, asus designo monitor, office ideas and more!

the secretary desk, or secrétaire, has been around for ages which is no surprise as they’re fairly compact and become a multipurpose piece of furniture in any room. michele de lucchi has chosen to modernize the idea in this project for molteni&c. produced by unifor, secretello is a modern workstation enclosed within glass walls creating an almost curio display cabinet. (at design milk)

asus designo monitor

the perfect office - samsung galaxy tab s3, asus designo monitor, office ideas and more!

the asus designo curve mx34vq is based on a 34” va panel with a 3440×1440 resolution (2.39:1 aspect ratio), offering a maximum brightness of 300 nits, a 3000:1 contrast ratio, a 100 hz refresh rate, 178°/178° viewing angles, a 4 ms response time, and 1800r curvature. the panel can reproduce 16.7 million colors and appears to be a pretty typical srgb gamut design. as for connectivity, the designo curve mx34vq monitor has three hdmi 2.0 ports, a displayport 1.2 port (pip and pbp functions are supported), and a 3.5-mm audio jack. (at anandtech)

office ideas!

here are some office ideas for you! how do you like these? don't forget that you may suggest gadgets or ideas via twitter: @paulogabriel - i hope you enjoy these! cheers. ;)

the journal concept is a web design, ui/ux and graphic design project shared by bohdan kononets and slava kornilov on their behance profile. as the name suggests, it's a concept project for a journal or a blog if you prefer. there are so many good things about this project, in particular the detail pages. the little colored frame for content gives it a nice editorial style, of course there might be some issues like the images overlaying the borders. anyways, it's a great project and definitely inspired me for the next batch of changes on the abduzeedo design.

bohdan kononets and slava kornilov are the designers and founders of flat studio, a team with full range of services. they have worked on projects for google, microsoft, tesla, rambler, novo banco, continente, uplabs and cleverdo.

our principal rule is to keep things simple, intuitive and adaptive for every person in the world.

as you may have been aware, we have been introducing a photography challenge on abduzeedo. while being doing this exercise, it makes you more aware of your surrounding and appreciate a lot more the work from our photographers. having said that, we would love to share the work of gustav willeit and his stunning photography work with a series called: perspe x. let’s follow his journey!

gustav willeit is a freelance photographer based in corvara in badia - corvara, italy. before going freelance, gustav worked for many years as an assistant for various photographers in zürich. now, he’s focusing his work into photography but also in fine arts and landscape design as well.

the title of this series, perspe, originated from a fragment of the german word “perspektive” (perspective): a programmatic statement alluding to the composition work, which is based on a simulation that fully exploits the opportunities offered by digital technology. the artist traces an unnatural perspective, i.e. a perspective that is “ideated”, invented, that acts and creates “different” places by mirroring the image, thus reaching perfect symmetry often disrupted by a discordant element.

it’s that time of the year where a lot of tech blog/news would share their rumours about the next iphone. with the fact that apple is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the iphone, most of us are kind of eager what they will come up with. bezels? tiny bezels or none? let’s take all the features aside, let’s take a look at this product design by moe slah’s iphone concept and what was his direction for the ui/ux. i really enjoyed his refined design with an updated ios 10 ui and think it will be greatly received by everyone. in all honesty, i wish apple will come up with a total overhaul of their ios that gotten quite old to use every single day.

published via behance, moe slah is a digital creative director based in alexandria, egypt. with more than 10 years experience in the design field, moe has also a background in business administration and management information systems. he wears also many hats from also being a behance ambassador and worked with international companies in usa, canada, australia and more.

published via behance, kris provost is an architect based in shanghai, china. there isn't much information about kris but nevertheless to say he's been out of school for like 5 years and he's making stuff in asia. you should definitely give him a follow on instagram: @krisprovoost.

for the 5 past years i have been dwelling through china. first a few years in the capital beijing to get used to the 'china speed' before relocating to shanghai where i will spend at least a few more years. this is my take on the icons spread around the cities. taken out of context and beautified to dissect the pure forms, shapes and design.

as you may know that we love personal projects on abduzeedo, it’s a great way to keep you mind inspired and giving you a balance in your daily workflow. it’s also a great way to experiment ideas and concepts. we would like to share this editorial design by mohammed samir and his personal series of magazines called: ting studio.

published via behance is the work from mohammed samir who is a lead designer at bbdo based in dubai, united arab emirates. i really enjoyed this background in illustration and integrating it into branding and graphic design projects.

this is a personal project i created to start a series of magazines under "ting studio" name. the series will start visually with the exploration of the living creatures motion and the relation between it and the human behavior. both graphical interpretation and photography are being used in all the magazine versions. it will include also sections about the traditional visual art subjects like typography but with a new graphical interpretation.

part of the daily design inspiration series that started it all on abduzeedo. this is where you'll find the most interesting things/finds/work curated by one of us to simply inspire your day. furthermore, it's an opportunity to feature work from more designers, photographers, and artists in general that we haven't had the chance to write or feature about in the past.

for this daily we are selecting art direction, digital art, graphic design and more. our goal is to diversify the types of work and in the future we can perhaps categorize them in different sections. for now we are going to stick to the simple format of images and links. i hope you enjoy and share with use via twitter or our tumblr.

until further notice, we'll display the images and the titles added to them. because of little issues we had in the past, the images are still linked to their authors, we just won't mentioned who shared them like we used to.

motion title design: nbc hero logo

we would like to share this motion title design work by lost project for nbc. the famous logo was created in the 40s, we were first introduced to that we see (with little iterations) nowadays by the end of the 80s. the spectrum of colours are quite memorable and lost project’s work also makes a beautiful tribute to the original core by keeping a modern twist.

web design: the journal concept ui/ux

the journal concept is a web design, ui/ux and graphic design project shared by bohdan kononets and slava kornilov on their behance profile. as the name suggests, it's a concept project for a journal or a blog if you prefer. there are so many good things about this project, in particular the detail pages. the little colored frame for content gives it a nice editorial style, of course there might be some issues like the images overlaying the borders. anyways, it's a great project and definitely inspired me for the next batch of changes on the abduzeedo design.

i stumbled across this beautiful illustration and graphic design project by imédia firme créative, especially the work from marie-joëlle lemire, nicolas lambert, valérie pilotte and claudie déry. it’s one of those things that you’ll giveaway as a gift and for this present case is so well done. i also really enjoy the print work with the shiny vinyl. congrats to the whole team for winning an award for applied arts magazine 2017 in ilustration.

a photo challenge! yes! mainly, it's an open concept that is made purely for fun and also to improve your photography or mobile photography skills. the idea is simple! at the beginning of the week, we'll share a theme through a hashtag for your pictures. during that given week, you will use that hashtag whenever you seem is appropriate or not. on friday we'll select and publish our favourite photos on the blog and also on instagram account (@abduzeedos). we look forward to see what you will come up with.

this for this week, we are going for the hashtag: --> #abdz_minimalism. minimalism is a pretty common term that we've once expressed our interest for. the interesting part with this week's challenge is that we all have our own vision of minimal so it will be quite interesting to see your own vision of minimal. let's make it fun and compelling!

following up our comeback with the wallpaper of the week series, it’s crazy to imagine there’s more than 350+ wallpapers available to download for your different screen resolutions. things have changed ever since so we decided to change the formula, each week we’ll try our best to publish one of our own pictures as a challenge. let us know of your thoughts or suggestions so we can adjust for future endeavors.

for this week’s wallpaper, we are sharing this image by françois hoang (me) and it's a little throwback from my little getaway to chicago. it's really worth it to make a little search beforehand any trips. another helpful tip, take the time to follow some instagrammers from the city you are visiting. it's really awesome to see the perspective of their city through their eyes.

whatever you wanna call it, we all have heard the news about the comeback of the indestructible nokia 3310. carried on with many titles, it’s great to see the comeback of this phone especially with our modern standard. with this launch, we are sharing the work from abhisek das who decided to give an interaction design refresh to the landing page. i really like his bold and yet clean approach to the design, i wish i could have seen his work/thinking for mobile version as well. give it a look!

published via behance is the work from abhisek das who is a ui/ux designer based in bangalore, india. he is a self-taught designer and i love that he implements the process of his creativity like a muscle and that it must be shared with the many talents out there.

when nokia unveiled the comeback of the indestructible handset, i wanted to give a retouch to the landing page with the apple design style. better readability, reduction design pattern, larger typography and a neat user interface.

miami 2017 is an illustration project  shared by remko heemskerk on his behance profile. as the title suggests, the illustrations are about miami, more specifically, buildings and architecture of that beautiful city. there's a mix of the famous art deco buildings  and some more modernist interpretations. all of that reinterpreted through simple vector illustrations with no gradients, just solid colors and quite a bit of contrast. what i love about these illustrations is that i try to take photos of buildings in real life with the goal to make them look like these illustrations. remko did a fantastic job, check them out.

remko heemskerk is an illustrator based in haarlem, the netherlands. he lived in new york city where he studied visual arts. his passion as you can imagine is illustration, design, sketch and paint. he also has a list of high profile clients, including names like wired, vw, condénast, disney and others. for more information make sure to check out his website at http://www.remkoheemskerk.com/

tokyo storefronts in beautiful watercolor by mateusz urbanowicz
tokyo storefronts in beautiful watercolor by mateusz urbanowicz
gismullr mar 07, 2017

mateusz urbanowicz aka. matto, is a very talented illustrator and digital designer. born and raised in silesia, poland, matto currently lives in tokyo. the artist has a lot of beautiful artworks on his portfolio. but one series of illustrations he created really caught my attention. tokyo storefront series is a collection of exquisite watercolor pieces showcasing tokyo shops. what is so unique about it is that matto turns the busy life of tokyo into delicate illustrations. you are almost transported to a parallel tokyo where everything is calm and quiet. subtle lines and colors give life to storefronts the artist encountered in some of his explorations around the city. forget the concrete jungle and all of the gray colors you see in tokyo and enjoy some beautiful watercolor storefronts.

i have been to tokyo in 2013 and i loved everything about it. and matto is totally right, the small shops in super old buildings will grab your attention. his idea of illustrating these unique storefronts is amazing. the watercolor give them a nice delicate touch. check out his pieces and get ready to see some tokyo gems. make sure to visit his websites to see some making-of videos of his pieces. enjoy!

born and raised in silesia, poland. studied electronic engineering until found out that making art can be more than a weird hobby. finished computer graphics at polish japanese institute of information technology, and thanks to a japanese government scholarship, moved to japan to study animation and comics. graduated with honors from kobe design university with a short animated movie "right places." from 2013 started working as a backgrounds artist and animation creator for comix wave films animation studio in tokyo. apart from professional work, keeps creating illustration series, paintings, comics, videos and other personal works.

when i moved to tokyo, more than 3 years ago i was really surprised that upon my walks i encountered so many shops still in business in really old buildings. differently to kobe, where the earthquake wiped out a lot of these old downtown houses and shops, in tokyo they still survive. i chose the best reference pictures from the ones i took during my explorations and decided to make an illustration series of old tokyo storefronts.

we would like to share this branding project by erik musin for a kitchen bar named porter. like mentioned below, his 3d/cgi approach adds a unique style to his stationery work also for a presentation. something that particularly caught my attention was the attention of details on his work for the visual design of what’s outside the restaurant with the signage and vinyls. it’s a small detail in the process but it does define the professionalism of erin’s experience.

published on behance is the work from erik musin who is a designer currently based in saint-petersburg, russian federation. throughout his freelance work, erik works mainly in graphic design, branding and art direction. i really enjoy his 3d/cgi approach to his work, it makes everything standing out from the crowd.

porter – dark beer with characteristic wine smack, strong aroma of malt and saturated taste at which at the same time there are both a sweet, and bitterness. also the name comes from a look a stake — the porterkhaus-stake which is cut out from a lumbar part of a back in the field of a cutting rib-steak. the name is associated with england – the homeland of beer and a stake.

i think i’ve mentioned it before but i am a huge fan of the nike brand. i just love how they experiment all the time with their products and material. and at the same time it’s great to see designers going down this path as well. let’s take a look at this concept by joseph cooper of a nike advanced training jacket. what’s particular from this concept is the use of battery (for charging) and sensors for tracking the performance of the athlete. the attention to the details are spot-on and i can’t wait to see more from joseph in the near future.

published on behance is the work from joseph cooper who is an indstrial designer working now at black & decker. there isn't much about him online but what you found is definitely worth a look. it's really great to see joseph experiment with another category like fashion for example but at the same time with also a practical aspect.

hyperion is a system of intelligent textiles and electronic components which work together to give athletes the ability to customize and adapt any garment to their needs. the jacket was designed to regulate body temperature during everyday athletic training, as well as to help athletes track and improve their performance over time.

illustration: stylish buildings of miami

miami 2017 is an illustration project shared by remko heemskerk on his behance profile. as the title suggests, the illustrations are about miami, more specifically, buildings and architecture of that beautiful city. there's a mix of the famous art deco buildings and some more modernist interpretations. all of that reinterpreted through simple vector illustrations with no gradients, just solid colors and quite a bit of contrast. what i love about these illustrations is that i try to take photos of buildings in real life with the goal to make them look like these illustrations. remko did a fantastic job, check them out.

mateusz urbanowicz aka. matto, is a very talented illustrator and digital designer. born and raised in silesia, poland, matto currently lives in tokyo. the artist has a lot of beautiful artworks on his portfolio. but one series of illustrations he created really caught my attention. tokyo storefront series is a collection of exquisite watercolor pieces showcasing tokyo shops. what is so unique about it is that matto turns the busy life of tokyo into delicate illustrations. you are almost transported to a parallel tokyo where everything is calm and quiet. subtle lines and colors give life to storefronts the artist encountered in some of his explorations around the city. forget the concrete jungle and all of the gray colors you see in tokyo and enjoy some beautiful watercolor storefronts.

graphic design: keep on rolling skateboarding deck design
abduzeedo mar 13, 2017

keep on rolling deck is a typography, illustration and graphic design project shared by ink bad company on their behance profile. i am a fan of skaboarding. i was a amateur trying to be professional skateboarder myself in the past. spent an enormous amount of hours on the streets practicing and of course breaking boards. there's something about your deck design that makes skateboarding unique. there's so many styles, colors and variations. your board is almost an extension of you and your style. the design ink bad company created for this board has definitely a classic, almost old wild west mood. below you can see a bit more of the process behind as well as the amount of details.

ink bad company is the design studio and alter ego of jc guerrero, illustrator based in valencia (spain). devoted to the study of the mass culture through the dotted halftone; his work maintains a completely unnecessary link with the paper and some immature details to refine. to date, however, the guy have managed to work with many respectable clients across the world, in fields such as the advertising, packaging, editorial or lettering.

one letter one song is a web design, ui/ux and art direction project shared by aykut yilmaz on his behance profile. there is not a lot of information about this project on the page but i assume it's a game about music skills where you have to figure out the title of the song by know the first letter? am i completely wrong? anyways the visual design is bold, colorful and in a way a bit unique. the iconography is also beautiful with very thick strokes. there are some new trends in place like the very long shadow on the browse page, and they look quite wonderful. take a look after the break and let us know what you think.

aykut yilmaz is a freelance senior art director from istanbul, turkey. for more information make sure to check out his profile at https://www.behance.net/aykutyilmaz

published on behance is the work from minjae baek who is a designer and artist based in seoul, korea. working as a senior designer at the creamunion, you can definitely see how diverse is his work from graphic design to ui/ux. i look forward to see more of him in the future.

part of the daily design inspiration series that started it all on abduzeedo. this is where you'll find the most interesting things/finds/work curated by one of us to simply inspire your day. furthermore, it's an opportunity to feature work from more designers, photographers, and artists in general that we haven't had the chance to write or feature about in the past.

for this daily we are selecting graphic design, ui/ux, web design and more. our goal is to diversify the types of work and in the future we can perhaps categorize them in different sections. for now we are going to stick to the simple format of images and links. i hope you enjoy and share with use via twitter or our tumblr.

until further notice, we'll display the images and the titles added to them. because of little issues we had in the past, the images are still linked to their authors, we just won't mentioned who shared them like we used to.

the east from north america is getting a pretty big snowstorm at the moment, so i thought about going through the same cold lines and featured the work from mikael buck and his stunning glacier's ice caves from vatnajökull, iceland. going through his project, it’s amazing with all the details and perspectives that makes you so stunned about this spectacular artifact from nature.

mikael buck is a photographer currently based in london, uk. focusing his work also on digital photography and advertising; mikael's work from iceland is absolutely stunning. make sure to follow his work on behance.

earlier this month i was fortunate enough to be commissioned to travel to the vatnajökull national park in southern iceland to photograph the ice caves found underneath the vatna glacier. here are the results of what was a truly inspiring trip. the light bouncing off the ice in every direction and the amazing textures created where the ice mixed with volcanic ash were unlike anything i have ever seen before.

branding and packaging design: milk
branding and packaging design: milk
abduzeedo mar 15, 2017

milk packaging is a packaging design, branding and graphic design project shared by erik musin on his behance profile. i have seen and posted quite a few packaging design projects for milk carton but this one from erik is probably the coolest. at least it's the most elegant in terms of simplicity and clever by the way he uses the pink color for the lid. there's not much to add from my side in terms of description, you have to check it for yourself, so just scroll down and enjoy it.

the goal was to develop a sing/emblem and a package. i ran into a situation that i always forget to close or even lose cap of a package,so the product often become spoiled. it was kinda like paranormal activity to me. but i don't want to accept this so i put myself a task to fix that problem . i took as a basis a sign, designed by me - it was a simple form of a circle, because i want to represent the simpleness and functionality, so the cup of milk could be opened and closed in one motion, and without twist-off caps

erik is a  a freelance graphic designer based in saint-petersburg ( russia ), focused on illustration, lettering, logos , branding. for more information check out https://www.behance.net/erikmusin

abduzeedo mar 16, 2017

brasserie in four seasons hotel kyoto is a photography project shared by seth powers on his behance profile. i don't post too much about architecture or interior design, however this one deserved a feature, it's just awesome. i am fan of simplea and straight lines, as well as wood accents. this one has all of that in a grand way.

brasserie restaurant & lounge in four seasons kyoto, japan. designed by shanghai-based architecture firm kokaistudios. the site is located in the unesco protected area of the temples of kyoto at the base of the mountains and faces a historical traditional japanese pond surrounded by a magnificent heritage ikeniwa garden. positioned between the arrival lobby and the garden, the restaurant is the core of the public space of the hotel, becoming in this way the main representative space of the entire resort. the architect conceived the space on with a strong architectural strategy by using the kyoto traditional system to connect indoor to outdoor, creating a large architectural feature that frames the view of the garden.

seth powers is a shanghai-based photographer specializing in architecture and interiors photography. he works primarily with architects and designers to render their vision with care and a keen eye for composition. since coming to china in 2012, he has done work for firms such as b+h, unstudio, jacobs, and coordination asia. for more information check out http://www.sethpowersphotography.com/

we would like to feature this interaction design project by watson dg for the moonlight movie. recently the movie has won many prestigious awards at the oscars (2017) and especially for the best picture. asides from the reveal controversy, the kind folks over watson dg created the site that drew many of our attention to its success. from the visual, the site offers a simple and clean experience. i gotta appreciate the detail for the headings with that thin ruler line across and used as a divider.

watson design group is a digital studio based in los angeles, usa. founded in 2005, they focus their work into creative and online development from web campaigns to digital marketing. you should definitely check out the live site, it's a lovely interaction with the header vs the scrolling.

moonlight is a transcendent coming-of-age film that is both agonizing and heartwarming- a true display of the humanity in us all. to engage in the dialogue surrounding the applauded film, watson design group created a site that drew attention to the film's success as well as to the emotional impact moonlight has had on its audiences, all through the use of poignant articles, quotes, and audience commentary. it is a look at what an unprecedented film meant to audiences around the world.
